Working Title examines labour, performance and the careful choreography of maintaining a facade. Jemima practices jobs that require distinct modes of presence and persona. Lucky is her alias on the strip, where blue-collar effort meets neon glamour. Daryl is the concierge: polished, attentive, always present. Two roles, two performance qualities — both demand being on, managing bodies, emotions, and expectations in spaces that are at once intimate and industrial.
Moving between Lucky and Daryl, the work unfolds in a surreal rhythm of entrances, gestures, voices, and tasks. As the roles begin to overlap and bleed into one another, they reveal what they share: emotional labour, time for sale, presence as product. A work about labour, identity and the quiet exhaustion of showtime.
Working Title premiered on the 11th December, 2025, at Uferstudios in Berlin. It was developed as the final work in Jemima's MA in Solo/Dance/Authorship at HZT Berlin.
