Inspired by Aristophanes’ speech in Plato’s “Symposium”, gaia16aye is a durational installation piece performed by two dancers, Jemima Rose Dean and Claudia Ortiz-Arraiza, and musician, Lindred. Debuted at the Lutherkirche, Köln in 2021, the work researches interconnection between two bodies and their potential to become one singular entity, overcoming all notions of physical separation.
“[Each] one longed for its other half, and so they would throw their arms about each other, weaving themselves together, wanting to grow together.” - excerpt from Plato’s “Symposium”.
